Historic covered market in Islamic Cairo near Bab Zuweila. The only place in the world where Khayamiya appliqué textile is made — a craft dating to Ancient Egypt and refined under the Fatimids (969–1171 AD). Artisan workshops produce hand-stitched appliqué quilts, cushion covers, wall hangings, and textiles using geometric Islamic designs. Each piece can take weeks to complete.
