Modern artisan pottery hub opened 2021 in Fustat, Cairo, with 150+ workshops. Artisans crush Nile clay into powder, add water, mould by hand or on a potter's wheel, sun-dry, then fire in a kiln. Some apply glaze before a second firing. Continues the ancient Egyptian tradition of pottery making tracing back to Pharaonic times. Products sold to tourists and exported as authentic Egyptian craft items.
